If you or your partner (or both of you) have noticed that your fitness, health and weight are not as good as they should be then the sooner you do something about it, the better off you both will be.
If you personally have gained some weight, or are aware that you are not eating right, take a look at it from your partner’s point of view for a moment.
What if your lifestyle led to you becoming increasingly weak and even ill? What if this then led to increasingly common conditions like diabetes or heart disease? Whilst you should care about your own health, often it is putting ourselves in the shoes of our loved ones that leads to serious action being taken to reverse damage and getting your health and fitness back on track.
Motivation
Getting motivation for exercise is by no means easy. Having someone to work out with does make it easier as they can motivate you and vice versa. And if you’re a competitive person you’ll probably enjoy the challenge of not wanting to “chicken out” of the workout sessions!
Most people enlist a friend as their exercise buddy, but what about your partner? Instead of exercising separately, get together and reap the benefits of fitness for couples. Even the Obama’s are doing it.

What are the benefits of ‘couples fitness’?
- Have fun
- Strengthen your relationship and encourage bonding
- Work towards a common goal
- Get fit and healthy
- Increase both of your libidos
- Lose weight & increase physical attraction to each other
- Spend quality time together
Which Exercises to Do?
Fitness doesn’t mean running up 1000 stairs everyday or jogging 10 miles. If you’re like most people, that sort of exercise is not something you find enjoyable.
But there are countless other ways to get fit. Yoga, pilates and strength training are three excellent methods that benefit you both mentally and physically – and if done together in a partnership can be highly beneficial as many of the routines require 2 people.
