The Easy Way to Encourage Your Husband to Exercise

If your husband or boyfriend tends to be a little lazy when it comes to his health and fitness, it might be up to you to get him into gear.

I have lost count of the number of times I’ve had friends tell me that their hubby or partner simply won’t exercise. Sometimes the case is that he used to be really into fitness and health, but has just let his guard down. Whilst other men simply never started and are gaining weight fast. Whatever the case, one thing is certain: the time for action is NOW and if you have to be the one to kick him into gear, so be it. Whatever works I say!

Many men won’t say it, but they’ll appreciate the fact that you care enough to want to help them to improve their fitness in a non-threatening way. Don’t put them down, instead encourage regular exercise together. If he has you there, it will be considerably easier for him to get motivated.

So how can you get him off the couch and into the gym?

For starters.. forget I said gym. You don’t want to discourage him with that word. Plus, you certainly don’t need to be paying excessive gym fees in order to get a good work out and get into shape. You can do it all at home with little to no equipment.

Some ideas that are simple, fast and can be subtly incorporated into your lives include walking, cycling and swimming. If you play your cards right, he won’t even know you’re getting him to exercise! Just think of it as recreation and quality time being spent together in an active environment.

You can also look at doing exercises inside the home. This is good as it means more quality time spent together, and you don’t have to worry about your looks or what you’re wearing – relax in the home while working out together (great for relationship bonding too).
